At the heart of self care is preservation.

A way of survival your body needs to fight against the trials and stressors of life.

It’s no secret that weight gain, poor mental health, illness and chronic fatigue are directly related to stress.

Without the opportunity to decompress, detox and purify, the results are chronic illness, detrimental weight gain and the risk of disease.

Why self care?

Self-care is the dedicated practice of taking action to preserve and improve your health. It’s especially beneficial during periods of stress.

We can all agree that now more than ever, self care is vital to our overall health and well-being!

For many of us, it’s an automatic ritual. A commitment we’ve made that no matter what, it can’t be missed!

Nationally we don’t have the luxury of sacred spa days currently as we slow the spread of COVID-19.

With self care being a system of survival, we can still make it a lifestyle and create those moments at home.

Here’s a few of our favorite self care must-do’s along with treatments and home remedies!

Detox.

Whenever you feel sluggish, bloated, extremely fatigued and not your best self, you may need to give your body a deep cleanse.

Detoxifying the body of harmful waste and toxins is a great way to start the process of total cleansing, getting your nutrition on the right track.

Clean eating is a healthy first step and the safest method. It allows your body to receive necessary nutrients and eliminate bad eating habits.

Benefits.

Foods that detox.

Tip: To ease a clean diet into your daily lifestyle, try adding these foods to each meal. For the ultimate cleanse and detox, commit to 30 days of clean eating.

Note: Detoxing methods outside of clean eating are only recommended when needed, typically 3 - 4 times a year. If it’s your first time and you’re unsure of which method to use, chat with your primary care doctor or a certified nutrition for expert advice.

Whether its yoga, strength training, walking, running or circuit fitness, aim for 3-5 days of consistency for at least an hour.

Exercise strengthens your cardiovascular system and reduces the risk of illness and disease.

Tip: If you have limited space at home use your garage, basement or patio for home gym workouts!

Benefits.

Meditation.

Meditation uses a technique called mindfulness. The act of training your mind to focus and redirect your thoughts to achieve a mentally clear, emotionally calm, positive and stable state.

Sounds amazing, right?

With total focus and no distractions, mindfulness increases the awareness of yourself and your surroundings.

It gives you a definitive pause and time to reflect, invite peace, develop concentration and reduce stress.

Meditation is free and can be done anywhere, anytime, and every day!

Baths.

Baths are highly addictive and known for many ways of reducing stress, improving heart health and giving pain relief to muscles and joints.

Make it a ritual. Day or night!

Play relaxing music, add essential oils, rose petals or your favorite fragrance.

Light candles for the perfect ambience.

Tip: To detox your body of harmful toxins, add 2 cups of epsom salt and a 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar.

Bonus tip: The hotter the better! Turn your bath ritual into a calorie burner by turning up the heat. You’ll burn as many calories as taking a brisk walk!

When it comes to self care, consistency is key!

It’s all about you.

Make it your special time.

An appointment that can’t be missed.

No distractions. No guilt. No drama.

Complete wellness.

Mind, body and soul.
